I never had the opportunity to meet Charlie Kirk in person or speak with him during his lifetime. Yet, I felt deeply connected to him through his bravery, his convictions, and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He reflected the boldness of apostles like Peter, John, and Paul, men who were intensely focused on the gospel and on rescuing their generation from eternal destruction. Many may understand Charlie primarily in political terms, but I saw him as a man on a spiritual mission: to bring America back to the light of Christ.
America has strayed far into darkness, in desperate need of the strong hand of Jesus to restore its light and hope. Charlie was determined to support this restoration and was eager to help shape America’s future, a responsibility many past leaders had neglected.
Our youth have been gravely misled. Countless young people live without purpose, never having encountered the Word of God. For many, the Bible is foreign because Satan used past leaders to divert them from the right path. If children had been raised on godly foundations, the government would not need to fight so desperately against the scourge of drugs. In a godly society, fentanyl and other destructive substances would never find fertile ground. Yet here we are, in what was once called “God’s own country,” struggling to rescue our future leaders from addiction.
The decline worsened after 2008, when the government began to openly promote transgender ideology, same-sex marriage, and similar issues. These might not have taken root if society had remained firmly anchored in Christ and righteousness, as America’s founders originally intended when they came to this land. Satan struck a devastating blow through the distorted interpretation of “separation of church and state.” The Bible, once the foundational textbook at Harvard University, was pushed out of schools and replaced with ideologies and destructive literature designed to corrupt the hearts of children. Most professors in American colleges and universities today hold godless ideologies and indoctrinate students with these ungodly philosophies. Even children from conservative homes become confused by such teachings, and some are ultimately radicalized into embracing godlessness.
I believe the second coming of President Donald Trump was part of God’s mysterious plan to realign the nation. I wrote an article last year about Trump’s rise, an event that defies explanation and points to divine providence. I urged those who oppose him so fiercely to consider whether they are actually fighting against God’s will. The battle in America today is not merely political; it is a spiritual war between light and darkness. What many call “common sense” in government today is not common at all; it is rare. Jesus warned that the path to eternal life is narrow and difficult, while the road to destruction is wide and easy (Matthew 7:13-14). Indeed, truth is never common.
Charlie Kirk stepped into this spiritual battlefield with great power and purpose. Like John the Baptist, he proclaimed salvation to America’s youth. When news broke that he had been attacked and did not survive, I wept. My wife and I had been praying for him, and the loss devastated us. I asked God, “Why did You allow this?” But then I remembered even the disciples were heartbroken when Jesus told them He would die. Why should a Savior die? He died because it was necessary for our salvation. I thank Him for that costly sacrifice. Likewise, Charlie’s impact will live on in the generations of American youth who were touched by his ministry.
As for his assailant, he unknowingly became an instrument to usher Charlie into the arms of his Lord. Judas Iscariot played a similar role in fulfilling Christ’s purpose on earth. Of Judas, Jesus said: “The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born” (Matthew 26:24).
Charlie, we love you. We honor your life and your mission. We pray that God will comfort and strengthen your family, and that He will raise others to carry forward the vision you lived and died for.
