Why Should America Defend Vulnerable Christians?

Why should America be involved in the defense of vulnerable Christians around the world? This question is often asked, not only globally, but sadly, even by some who call themselves Christians. When I hear such questions, I am compelled to wonder about the depth of biblical understanding among many believers today. Do they truly read the Bible with discernment, or merely with convenience?

In America, it has become increasingly common to see some so-called Christian leaders align themselves with dishonesty, unrighteousness, and blatant affronts to truth. In doing so, they mislead segments of the Church away from God rather than toward Him. I have personally heard professing Christians declare their intention to “die as Democrats” or, by implication, Republicans. I struggle to understand why any Christian would pledge lifelong loyalty to a worldly political system rather than to Jesus Christ alone.

In one of my books, the Spirit of God impressed upon me that there are many enemies within the Church; individuals who are being used, knowingly or unknowingly, by the chief enemy, Satan, to destabilize the body of Christ from within. Their influence appears effective largely because the Church has been weakened and is not functioning with the spiritual strength and discernment it was meant to have.

God’s Instruments in Troubled Times

Why is Donald J. Trump and his administration actively defending Christians and Jews around the world? Why has he openly confronted forces hostile to Judeo-Christian values? From within the United States, he initiated actions and policy frameworks aimed at defending religious freedom and protecting the rights of Christians and other faith communities.

According to statements by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald J. Trump is the first American President who has demonstrated an unprecedented level of support for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Netanyahu has described Trump as having exceptionally strong ties with the Jewish community and, at one point, indicated that Trump would be honored as the first non-Israeli recipient of the Israel Prize. These actions and acknowledgments show Trump as a leader willing to confront ideological forces that oppose Judeo-Christian values on a global scale.

You may not like Donald Trump, and many do not, but I am convinced that God raised him to office for a purpose in a critical time. Throughout history, true servants of God have rarely been popular because their calling inevitably challenges the powers of darkness. Scripture makes it clear that persecution will increase before the imminent Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Yet Jesus also gave a divine assurance:

“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.”
—Matthew 24:22

One way God shortens days of adversity is by using instruments, flawed though they may be, to restrain the power of evil. I believe Donald J. Trump has been one such instrument in our time, and we are grateful to God for him.

A Warning Ignored

In 2012, during the Obama administration, I published a book titled Saving America: The War We Can’t Ignore. It did not gain wide circulation—partly because I was an unknown author, and partly because its message did not align with the prevailing political and cultural narratives of the time. Notably, the individual who would later become President of the United States, though he had not yet declared his intention to seek the nation’s highest office, was among the recipients of the book.

In that book, I warned that if America were to fall politically and militarily, the entire world would be endangered. Since 2008, Satan has intensified his assault on American values and the Judeo-Christian principles upheld by the nation’s founders. Historically, successive American administrations, Democratic or Republican, recognized these foundational values. However, since 2008, we have witnessed a steady erosion of these principles, and America has suffered as a result.

The abandonment of God is always the prelude to the collapse of a great nation.

Cultural and Spiritual Consequences

Events such as the New York mayoral election should not come as a surprise to anyone paying attention. Large waves of post-2008 immigration, often disconnected from Judeo-Christian moral foundations, have reshaped cultural and political priorities. When children raised in such systems reach voting age, the long-term consequences become evident.

We thank God for voices such as Charlie Kirk, of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) whose ministry has reached young people nationwide. Without such interventions, the spiritual decline among American youth would be far more devastating. Hence, there is a need to defend and preserve such organizations in the long-term interest of this nation.

Global Jihadist Expansion and Western Weakness

Islamic jihadist movements have aggressively expanded across the globe. The United States remains one of the few nations that has effectively slowed its advance. Europe, by contrast, has produced leaders lacking historical awareness and moral courage. As a result, jihadist groups have exploited political weakness to gain influence, including local leadership positions that advance their agendas.

America itself is not immune. Political expediency has allowed dangerous ideological footholds in states such as Texas, New York, and Minnesota. The jihadist strategy is patient: populate, influence, and eventually capture power.

Over time, ungodly global forces have also gained influence in Ivy League universities, institutions once dedicated to Christian learning. Is it any wonder that many ideologies hostile to America’s moral foundations now originate from these centers?

A Failure of Christian Solidarity

In Nigeria, and for many years, southern Christian leaders remained largely indifferent while their brothers and sisters in the North were persecuted and murdered. This neglect directly contradicts the apostle Paul’s teaching:

“But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it,” 1 Corinthians 12: 24-26.

That failure allowed jihadist forces to entrench themselves in the North and later expand southward. Today, the entire nation of Nigeria suffers under the weight of this neglect.

A Call to Discernment

No region of the world is immune to jihadist ambitions. Satan’s strategies are many and deceptive. At present, these forces may appear aligned with various political and social movements, but history shows that once power is secured, alliances dissolve and persecution follows.

From Iran to Syria and beyond, Donald J. Trump has confronted these forces in ways few leaders have dared. For this reason, I believe he has played a significant role in restraining global evil in our time.

May God continue to bless America, and may the Church regain spiritual discernment, courage, and unity in these perilous days.
