Psalm 33:12
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”
God is the Creator of all people and all nations. In that sense, every nation belongs to Him. Yet not every nation acknowledges Him as Lord. The difference lies in whether a people willingly recognize and submit to the one true God.
After the flood, God called Abraham to establish a covenant through which He would reveal His redemptive plan to the world. Abraham, the father of the Hebrew nation, obeyed God’s call to leave his homeland in Ur of the Chaldeans and journey to the land of Canaan. Through his faith and obedience, God established a covenant that would ultimately bless all nations.
Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, came through Abraham’s lineage. Therefore, everyone who places their faith in Christ becomes a spiritual descendant of Abraham and an heir to God’s promises (Galatians 3:29). This is the enduring bond between Christians and the covenant God made with Abraham.
As believers in Christ, we are God’s chosen people and the heirs of His promises. We belong to His kingdom, and He is our Lord. Therefore, we should live in faithful obedience to Him, knowing that true blessing belongs to those whose God is the Lord.
We rejoice with America today as she celebrates 250 years as an exceptional nation.
Prayer: We thank God for His abundant blessings throughout her history and pray that He will continue to bless America, guide her in righteousness, and make her an even greater blessing to the world.
