“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” — Psalm 33:12
God is marvelous in all His works. As the Creator of all things, He has always been sovereign over history. Even though He created the being who later became Satan through rebellion, God has never been surprised or overcome by evil. Satan is the architect of sin, deception, and destruction, but he can never frustrate God’s eternal purposes.
When God created the heavens and the earth, everything He made was good. Evil entered God’s creation when Satan rebelled against Him and was cast out of heaven with the angels who followed him. These fallen angels, known as demons or principalities and powers, continue to oppose God’s purposes on earth while awaiting God’s final judgment.
God created humanity in His own image and placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, a place of fellowship with God, free from sin, suffering, and death. Satan, however, entered the garden through the serpent and deceived humanity into disobeying God. Sin separated mankind from God, and humanity was driven out of Eden into a fallen world where evil exerts its influence.
Yet God had already prepared the remedy. In His infinite love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem humanity. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin so that everyone who believes in Him may receive forgiveness, eternal life, and reconciliation with God. Although believers continue to live in a fallen world, God remains faithful to make a way for His people and to accomplish His purposes.
Throughout history, God has raised individuals to fulfill His divine plan. When the Israelites groaned under slavery in Egypt, God raised Moses to lead them to freedom. God is always on time.
Similarly, many early settlers came to North America seeking the freedom to worship God according to their convictions. After leaving England and spending time in the Netherlands, the Pilgrims crossed the Atlantic in 1620 and established Plymouth Colony. To many of them, this new land represented an opportunity to build a society grounded in faith and biblical values. While America’s history is complex and includes both remarkable achievements and painful failures, God’s providential hand can be seen throughout its story.
It is difficult to imagine the modern world without the influence of the United States. Throughout its history, America has been a source of innovation, humanitarian assistance, religious liberty, and missionary outreach that has carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to many nations. While no earthly nation is perfect, God has greatly used America to bless the world.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus commissioned His followers to proclaim the gospel to all nations. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, believers, first called Christians in Antioch, spread throughout the world, proclaiming the message of salvation and bringing hope to people living in spiritual darkness.
Ultimately, the greatest conflict is not between political parties or human ideologies but between righteousness and sin, truth and deception, light and darkness. Jesus taught that when He returns in glory, He will separate the nations as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. Those on His right will inherit the kingdom prepared for them, while those on His left will face eternal judgment (Matthew 25:31–46). This reminds us that every individual and every nation is accountable to God.
In 2012, I published a book titled Saving America: The War We Can’t Ignore. My concern then, as now, was that America was gradually drifting away from the biblical values that contributed to her greatness. The spirit of the age increasingly challenges faith in God, biblical morality, and the principles upon which many of the nation’s early institutions were built.
Nothing has contributed more to America’s exceptional influence than its long-standing recognition of the importance of faith, religious liberty, and dependence upon God. The national motto, “In God We Trust,” has served as a reminder that true security and lasting prosperity come from the Lord. We thank God for the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and his administration in encouraging Americans to seek God’s guidance and to participate in the Rededicate 250 prayer gathering on May 17, 2026. The event called on the nation to reaffirm the enduring ideal of being “One Nation Under God” as America marked the 250th anniversary of the historic 1776 call to prayer and fasting and looked toward the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.
As America marks 250 years of nationhood, it is appropriate to renew our commitment to the values that have strengthened the nation throughout its history. We should teach younger generations the rich history of our country, encourage them to cherish freedom, uphold truth and justice, and cultivate a reverence for God. A nation that forgets its spiritual heritage risks losing the moral foundation upon which its future depends. May this renewed commitment inspire Americans to seek the Lord with humility, uphold righteousness, cherish religious liberty, and preserve the godly values that have long contributed to the nation’s strength and influence.
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34
America has been greatly blessed, not because she is perfect, but because God has graciously shown her favor and entrusted her with significant influence among the nations. May she continue to seek the Lord with humility, pursue righteousness, defend liberty, and remain a blessing to the world. May God continue to bless America and make her a blessing to the world.
God bless America as she celebrates 250 years.
